YOU'RE THE SCIENTIST!

YOUR EVOLUTIONARY FAMILY TREE

STEP 8: PUBLISH

EXAMPLE

After collecting and analyzing data, scientists will often publish their work in an academic journal for other experts and non-experts to read and learn about.

Below, I wrote an example of a brief manuscript that might be written to describe the data, results, and conclusions regarding the frog-dog-human comparison.

The publication process involves peer review, so as the author of this manuscript, I will have a friend or classmate read it and provide feedback. After receiving the feedback, I, the author, will make any necessary changes.

THE LAB

Now, write a scientific article that summarizes what you did in this study, what you found, and what that means for us as humans, as primates, and as animals. Figures of your Venn diagram and the phylogenetic tree should be included. You can share this with a classmate or friend to peer review and offer feedback on your work.
