A Scavenger Hunt

INTRODUCTION

Embark on a virtual scavenger hunt that takes you through New England Primate Conservancy’s website, where you can discover the importance of primate conservation. Each guided step helps you uncover clues that lead to solving a mystery quote. This fun and interactive learning experience covers a range of topics related to conservation and primate protection. It’s particularly popular in high school programs, but it also suits students in grades 2 through 8. Younger students may need additional adult support, while older students can engage and learn independently.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

This activity introduces students to: 

  • The geographic distribution of nonhuman primate species across the globe 
  • The purpose of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)
  • How the IUCN classifies Conservation Statuses of primate species 
  • Major threats to primates  
  • Primates living in research facilities and the Animal Welfare Act
  • Personal choices and actions that individuals can make to support primate conservation
