NEPC LESSONS BY GRADE BANDS: OVERVIEW

LESSONS BY GRADE BANDS

Our Primates and the Living Earth: Lessons and Activities in Biodiversity and Conservation offer a wide variety of project-based lessons and activities that make learning engaging and hands-on. All educational content is provided at no cost—no memberships, no paywalls, no logins.

Our lessons are designed to be flexible resources that educators can integrate into their existing curricula. Use a complete lesson, select individual sections or activities, or draw on NEPC resources to complement what you’re already teaching. Browse by grade band to identify lessons appropriate for your students, with educational standards and additional educator guidance provided where available.

We recognize that educators know their students, curricula, classroom needs, and learning goals best. Rather than prescribe a single way to teach the material, our goal is to provide engaging, scientifically grounded resources that educators can adapt and use in the ways that work best for their students.

The lessons explore the interconnectedness and interdependence of animals, ecosystems, biodiversity, and conservation. Games, graphics, videos, investigations, and other interactive activities allow students to work individually or in teams while engaging in meaningful, real-world learning. Along the way, students strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, self-management, project management, and collaboration—skills that span academic disciplines.

All of our educational content shares the same goal: promoting responsible stewardship of our planet and its creatures. Education lies at the heart of animal protection and conservation, and each of us can be part of the solution. Knowledge is the key.
